Associated and C&R Development have been engaged in the construction of television & radio broadcast media/data transmission facilities for the past fifteen years. Having constructed multiple award-winning television production and data transmission facilities for such industry giants as ESPN and NBC, Associated is recognized as an industry leader. To date, we have constructed and/or renovated over 1 million SF of broadcast media/data transmission space totaling in excess of $300 million. These projects include broadcast studios, MCRs, PCRs, data transmission centers, satellite farms, media storage & server space facilities, communications systems, MEP upgrades, as well as backup support in the form of UPS systems and generator buildings.

The complexity and dollar volume of commercial and corporate office projects are simply too great to rely on chance. Every day, competitive bids come in too high, causing expensive delays, revisions and lost construction time. To the contrary, Associated works with the design team to deliver cost analyses and value engineering proposals needed to achieve maximum quality within the owners’ budget. We have saved millions of dollars and months of delays for our commercial clients while delivering a quality product. Associated’s projects are found throughout the Hartford region, and include such iconic structures as The Hartford Steam Boiler Building, Kaman Aerospace Headquarters, CT General Headquarters, and pretty much the entirety of ESPN’s corporate campus.

Associated and C&R Development have many years of experience in building institutional educational facilities, public and private, at every level from elementary school through university. We count among our clients the two most prestigious institutions of higher education in the state – Yale University and The University of Connecticut. Work on these campuses encompassed both new facility and renovated space construction. Associated understands and can accommodate the challenges of constructing within an occupied campus, and in particular the need to finish on time and within budget. The construction costs and financing involved in large residential and congregate housing projects are substantial. Return on investment is critical to an owner of a project and we work alongside the client from the inception of a project to ensure that it is cost effective. Our value engineering is an essential part of the design phase. In addition to a focus on minimizing cost while assuring a quality construction standard, affordable tenant-attracting amenities and meeting all applicable government regulations, codes and standards. Our strong history of meeting or improving upon construction schedules, which translates into reduced interest payments and early rental or sale income. With the explosive growth and need for housing, construction professionals experienced in building market-rate and congregate as well as affordable housing are increasingly in demand. With over four thousand units to our credit, we feel very confident in this segment of the construction market, be it high- or low-rise new construction or renovation.

Attention to detail translates well to the consumer-driven world of retail construction, where a store’s image needs to impress, but at a reasonable cost. Associated has performed stand-alone new construction and fitouts for retail banks Webster and Santander, clothing/retail chains Ann Taylor, L’Occitane, Nailtique, Hakky Shoe and Old Navy, and car dealer Nissan. In this arena, where every penny counts, Associated’s ability to value engineer and keep construction costs to a minimum results in a very satisfied client.

Not unlike the broadcasting world, image is everything when it comes to the hospitality industry. Hotels, casinos & restaurants rely on nicely- appointed, high end finishes to attract and retain clientele. Associated recently finished construction of a luxury, boutique hotel in West Hartford Center, The Delamar, a crown jewel of the high-end Blueback Square retail center. Many of the hotel’s aesthetic features, created by European artists, were carefully installed by Associated. In particular, the Artisan Restaurant located at the hotel showcases Associated’s skill in incorporating these artistic features into a restaurant scenario. Associated’s familiarity in performing high-end restaurant construction for ESPN and many Hartford area restauranteurs was invaluable to this project.

Innovation and creativity, tested by hours and hours of research in sophisticated, high tech laboratories, are the lifeblood and secret to the success of pharmaceutical companies such as Boehringer Ingelheim, one of Associated’s most valued clients. For years, Boehringer has entrusted Associated to construct some of its most secretive, proprietary laboratory facilities, facilities designed to advance its mission to create some of the most useful, life-saving and life-enhancing pharmaceutical drugs in the world. Apart from Boehringer, Associated’s experience and skill set in this arena also extends to the world of academic research. The demand for world class laboratory research facilities are found at higher education institutions throughout the U.S. Associated’s work at The University of Connecticut, where the firm has completed several laboratory/clean room projects (bio-behavioral lab, MAA), is ongoing and significant.

In addition to municipal waste treatment infrastructure projects, Associated is highly experienced in the construction of many other public institutional structures – airports, firehouses, police stations, libraries, courthouses and correctional facilities are found throughout Associated’s portfolio. These large, often imposing facilities are showpieces to enhance public awareness of the town, city or state’s commitment to serve the community, and Associated has repeatedly been hailed for its efforts in bringing these institutional structures to life. One of Associated’s most recent projects, East Hartford Firehouse #5, was recognized for its architectural/engineering significance as well as for its role in creating job growth in the Hartford region. Also, when building any or all of these facilities, safety is of paramount concern, and implementation of a strict and well thought out safety program is part and parcel of each and every project.
